1. Who this policy applies to
This policy applies to every person and device that connects to a Simple Storage Wi-Fi network at the Simple Storage premises, including customers, visitors, contractors and staff. The service is provided by Simple Storage Solutions and is managed and supported on its behalf by Alreetech.
By connecting to the service you accept this policy. If you do not accept it, do not connect.
2. Lawful use only
You must use the service only for lawful purposes. In particular, you must not use the service to commit, facilitate or encourage any offence under the law of England and Wales, including (without limitation) offences under:
- the Computer Misuse Act 1990 (unauthorised access to or interference with computer systems);
- the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 (copyright infringement, including unlawful file sharing);
- the Fraud Act 2006 (fraud, phishing and impersonation);
- the Communications Act 2003 and the Malicious Communications Act 1988 (grossly offensive, threatening or menacing communications);
- the Protection from Harassment Act 1997 (harassment and stalking);
- the Terrorism Acts 2000 and 2006 (terrorist material and its dissemination);
- legislation prohibiting the creation, possession or distribution of indecent images of children.
3. Prohibited activities
Whether or not the activity is a criminal offence, you must not use the service to:
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to any system, account, device, network equipment or data, or to scan, probe or test the security of any system without written permission;
- create, upload, distribute or knowingly transmit viruses, ransomware, spyware or other malicious software;
- send spam, unsolicited bulk messages or chain communications;
- threaten, harass, abuse, defame or intimidate any person;
- access, store or distribute material that is illegal in the United Kingdom;
- download, share or distribute copyright-protected material without the rights to do so, including via peer-to-peer file sharing of infringing content;
- misrepresent your identity, or impersonate any person, business or network service;
- resell, sub-let or commercially exploit access to the service.
4. Protecting the network
You must not interfere with the operation of the Wi-Fi service or its supporting infrastructure, including access points, cabling, switches, routers and power supplies. In particular, you must not:
- deliberately disrupt or degrade the service, including denial-of-service activity;
- spoof network identifiers, run rogue access points, or bridge the service to other networks;
- connect equipment intended to extend, repeat or rebroadcast the service without written permission;
- attempt to bypass speed limits, time limits, access controls, content filtering or any other restriction applied to the Free, Premium or Staff networks.
5. Fair use of bandwidth
The service is shared. You must use bandwidth reasonably. Sustained high-volume transfers, continuous large downloads or other activity that significantly degrades the service for others may be throttled, time-limited or blocked without notice. The Free network is intended for general browsing and email; customers needing sustained higher performance should use the Premium option.
6. Access credentials
- Staff network credentials are for authorised Simple Storage staff only and must never be shared with customers, visitors or any other person.
- Premium access codes are issued for the named customer's use and rented unit only, for the period agreed, and must not be shared or resold.
- You are responsible for all activity carried out using credentials issued to you, and for the devices you connect. Keep your devices reasonably secure and up to date, and do not leave open sessions unattended in shared spaces.
7. Monitoring and logging
To operate the service securely and comply with legal obligations, technical information about connections (such as device identifiers, connection times and volumes of data transferred) is logged. The content of your communications is not routinely inspected. Details of what is collected and how long it is kept are set out in the privacy notice. Where unlawful activity is suspected, logs may be reviewed and disclosed to Simple Storage management or to law enforcement where the law permits or requires it.
8. No guarantee of service
The service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis to support Simple Storage customers and staff. Continuous availability, coverage in all areas of the premises, and any particular speed are not guaranteed. Maintenance, faults, radio interference or upstream provider issues may interrupt or degrade the service. To the fullest extent permitted by law, neither Simple Storage Solutions nor Alreetech accepts liability for loss or damage arising from use of, or inability to use, the service. Nothing in this policy limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
9. Your security when using shared Wi-Fi
As with any shared network, you use the service at your own risk. You are responsible for the security of your own data and devices. We recommend using encrypted (HTTPS) websites, a VPN for sensitive work, and avoiding transmitting confidential information over the Free network.
10. Enforcement
Access may be restricted, suspended or withdrawn, temporarily or permanently and without prior notice, if a breach of this policy is suspected or confirmed. Serious or repeated breaches may be referred to Simple Storage management and, where appropriate, to the relevant authorities. Deliberate damage to network equipment may be charged to the person responsible.
11. Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated from time to time. The current version will always be published at storage.alreetech.uk/acceptable-use.html. Continued use of the service after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
